Ever been in two places at once?

Original Matters is a two-fold, inverse exhibition hosted between Melbourne (AU) and Glasgow (Scotland) simultaneously. 19 local and international emerging artists come together with a multidisciplinary offering of works which delve into the illusionary phenomenon of déjà vu. This exhibition invites you to observe and participate in the mirror image of two worlds, physically isolated, yet existing in perfect synchronicity.

Original Matters challenges the concept of originality in art by exploring whether reproductions can retain the essence of the original works. Each original artwork has been reproduced in the opposite city using 2D and 3D scanning and printing techniques, resulting in slightly altered versions. These works span various mediums, including sculpture, film, painting, photography, and print.

Both exhibitions present a mix of original and reproduced works, creating a mirrored experience for visitors in both locations. A live stream connects the two exhibitions, allowing visitors to observe the other city’s gallery in real-time.
