Sydney Spiritual Network will be hosting our first half day meditation for our community. This will be an opportunity to go deeper into meditation and experiment with 3 active style of Meditation techniques, all designed by Indian Mystic and Meditation Master Osho.

Who are SSN?

Sydney Spiritual Network are a community focussed on using the power of community to move deeper into ourselves and discover the eternal truth.

Why active Meditation?

Meditation is often a very confronting and challenging experience. The act of sitting still in silence even with the aid of a technique almost immediately brings up any suppresses emotions alongside their related thought patterns. These cycles have been hidden deep down in the subconscious and with good reason, they were formed to protect us from a perceived danger (usually during infancy) which no longer exists. So active Meditation is a way of giving our system an opportunity to release and express the energy and emotion powering these deep hidden cycles through dance, shaking, body movements etc... It is the process of catharsis.

Once emotions are expressed through the system a natural silence is left, this is where all meditation begins. One is emptied out, existing now as pure content-less awareness, a blissful experience, free from the pull of impermanent thoughts, emotions or sensations. The active aspect of the meditations serve as a kind of preparation by emptying our minds of thoughts, purging stuck emotions with silence is a natural bi-product of this process. This is the science behind Osho’s methods.

What can I expect on the day?

On the day, there will be clear instructions given for each meditations where there will be opportunities to ask questions. We will explore 3 different Active Meditations, lasting 1 hour each, the schedule will look something like the below:

8:30am - Osho Kundalini Meditation

- First Stage: 15 minutes

Be loose and let your whole body shake, feeling the energies moving up from your feet. Let go everywhere and become the shaking. Your eyes may be open or closed.

- Second Stage: 15 minutes

Dance... any way you feel, and let the whole body move as it wishes. Again, your eyes can be open or closed.

- Third Stage: 15 minutes

Close your eyes and be still, sitting or standing, observing, witnessing, whatever is happening inside and out.

- Fourth Stage: 15 minutes

Keeping your eyes closed, lie down and be still.

9:45am - Meditation Talk

There will be a talk by Brendan on an aspect of Meditation followed by a group Inquiry. This is a great opportunity to receive insights, ask questions and to share experiences which has proven to be of great benefit in integrating our understanding of Meditation.

11am - Osho Bardo Meditation (Death Meditation)

Osho Bardo Meditation is a great practice for anyone who is nearing death or those who would like to learn how to reach deep levels of peace and relaxation through letting go.

The entire duration of the practice will last around 45 minutes and once finished, we’ll have a small sharing circle we often learn the most about our experience through sharing with others.

Who is this Meditation for?

All are welcome to our half day of meditation whether you are a beginner/inexperienced or interested in going deeper into Meditation or perhaps struggle with discipline, would like to try a different style of meditation or want to experience meditating in a community.
