Join our October Sunday Session ‘Our Home 👣 Their Home 🐾' for an engaging and informative session on the homes we share with our native wildlife.

We are thrilled to have James Smith, biologist, author of the Wildlife of Greater Adelaide, communicator, educator and winner of the prestigious Green Adelaide’s Pelzer Prize 2023 as our special Sunday Session guest expert. For nearly two decades, James has passionately advocated for urban wildlife across South Australia, with a particular focus on urban and peri-urban environments.

James is able to answer questions and speak to a range of topics, including:

attracting native biodiversity to our suburbs,
planning wildlife gardens,
the importance of retaining trees, and
specifics of wildlife box designs.

Attendees will also have the unique opportunity to learn about building wildlife boxes and how we can provide habitat at home for birds, lizards, frogs, butterflies, bees, and other species.

James will bring along a selection of wildlife boxes, books, and other resources for display and discussion.

This is a free session and drop-ins are welcome throughout the day. Come and visit anytime 10am - 2pm Sunday 8 October. Chat with James and check out what else the centre has to offer (free info, local connections, and plenty of community resources). Note that registration is not required.

Attendees are invited to pre-purchase a DIY nest/wildlife boxes at a 20% discount from FauNature using the promocode – PEC2023. Boxes will need to be collected from Port Environment Centre during the Sunday Session. This means you'll also have time to talk through specifics with James on the day.
