ABOUT OUR OCEAN SCHOOL

Our Ocean School (OOS) is dedicated to providing free education to the local communities of the Mentawai Islands, Indonesia. Our mission is to empower these communities with the necessary skills and knowledge to flourish in today’s world. Through initiatives focused on education and employment, we strive to foster a sustainable and equitable future for the residents of this picturesque paradise. Currenly there is 140 students enrolled.

“We aim to empower communities and cultivate local capacity for sustainable education and employment. Our programs encompass English language, swimming, surfing, lifesaving, and first aid training, all crucial for supporting Mentawai’s renowned surfing tourism. By instilling a strong foundation in English, we equip our students not only to communicate effectively but also to seize the diverse employment opportunities within the surfing and tourism industry.”
