Description

Beyond Identity® Rainbow and Colour | Creative Storytelling Series

What is the Creative Storytelling Series?

Beyond Identity® Rainbow and Colour is a community led creative arts and storytelling program for LGBTQIA+ international students, alumni and allies from multicultural and multifaith backgrounds.

Through a series of creative workshops, we will explore culture, heritage, gender, sexuality, healthy relationships, neurodiversity and family experiences through different forms of creative expression.

You might explore your story through:

🎨 Zine making and collage
✍️ Creative writing and poetry
🎭 Theatre and storytelling
🖐️ Shadow puppetry
💃 Dance and movement
💬 Story circles and paired exchanges
🌱 Wellbeing and creative activities

The workshops are designed to create a welcoming space where people can express themselves, connect with others and share experiences in ways that feel comfortable to them.

You don't need to have a particular story to tell. You can participate through listening, creating, sharing, or simply being part of the community.

Who is this for?

This series is for LGBTQIA+ international students, migrants and allies from multicultural and multifaith backgrounds. 🌈🌏

You don’t need to have creative experience or advanced English to participate. We welcome people with different backgrounds, experiences, confidence levels and ways of expressing themselves.

Come along to create, share, listen and connect in a way that feels comfortable for you. 💚

What will we create?

Throughout the series, we’ll explore different creative ways to express our stories, identities, cultures and experiences.

Together, we’ll create art and stories that reflect our experiences and perspectives, with the creative work coming together to be shared and showcased at the end of the series. 🎨🌈

You can choose how you would like to participate and what you feel comfortable sharing. 💚

Location and dates

The Creative Storytelling Series will take place at Kathleen Syme Library Community Centre in Carlton, as well as in a regional location in Victoria.
