Our Throsby Seafood Festival
Description
Newcastle's working harbour is throwing its biggest party yet. The inaugural Newcastle Seafood Festival takes over Throsby Basin on Saturday 12 September 2026, 11am-5pm, with free entry across three iconic waterfront venues: Pier 97, the Newcastle Fishermen's Co-operative, and Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club.
Expect fresh local seafood, live shucking, filleting and squid prep demos, a marquee 12:30pm sashimi presentation from Japanese seafood expert Narito Ishii, and hourly boat tours through the working harbour. Market stalls from Our Throsby makers, a dedicated family zone, live music on the NCYC pontoon, and a prawn peeling competition round out the day.
Get a head start with the Our Throsby Seafood Trail, running 7-13 September through restaurants, pubs and cafés across the five villages!
Free admission. Boat tours ($10pp, incl. drink voucher) and the prawn peeling competition require bookings.
