Outside, Inside & All The Way Around : The ceramic vessel and the environment of educational exchange, SALA 2023. .
Event description
SALA 2023: Past and present staff from Adelaide College of the Arts and Alumni explore musings on the ceramic vessel.
The vessel is often used to exchange materials from one form to another - teapot to teacup, Amphora to Carafe, to Goblet etc. etc. The idea of the vessel can also be extended to the interior space of the artist's studio and further to this, the artist being a vessel in and of themselves that carries all types of experiences with them to share with others. This is particularly true of the artist involved in education, whether it is a long career in providing education, or perhaps the recipient of this education. With this in mind, staff past and present alongside Adelaide College of the Arts Alumni to exhibit work in Light Square Gallery.
Educational Exchange:
The transference of knowledge, support, and energy in the process of instigating quality education is often experienced by the educator as a form of mutual exchange, where the lecturer's own artistic energy is often utilised to support the creative growth of the student. The vicarious joy felt in the newly graduated student and their subsequent career achievements post art school is often felt by the staff member. This is due to the precious nature of this exchange, even though this exchange may be a fleeting connection in the context of the emerging artist's career.
