Overlocker workshop - making a woven garment
Description
EVENT EDITED!... PLEASE READ:
Ive been getting asked by lots of people when my next Cambewarra classes will be and I took a pragmatic look at this - and ive decided I can run this class for people with both pverlockers andsewing machines ... so if your looking to sew with either machine I will adapt the class and instructions accordingly
Welcome!
If you've completed the how to use your overlocker class*, you're now ready to start sewing a real garment. The weather is cold so I can't think of a better time to make some comfortable pants for wearing around the house or snuggling on the couch.... and if you dont personally wear pjamas, consider making them as a gift ... they will be well recived by a loved one once they know you made them!
This workshop will guide you step-by-step through creating your own woven pyjama pants, from pattern tracing and adaptation, garment cutting through to sewing the final seams.
This class focuses on woven fabrication (non stretch) and practical garment construction skills — perfect for starting to build wearable wardrobe pieces. You'll learn essential techniques that will give you confidence to tackle many future projects.
In this workshop you will:
• Trace and cut your pattern to your size (please let Ariane know your size in advance so your pattern can be prepared)
• Learn how to lay out and cut woven fabric efficiently
• Learn how to lengthen or shorten a leg
• Sew curved seams and apply a comfortable waistband
• Insert elastic and finish hems beautifully
• Use your overlocker OR sewing machine for clean, professional finishes (you can do this class with either.
Please bring:
• Your own overlocker OR Sewing Machine
• 4 x Matching thread in black
• second set of 4 x matching threads in an alternate colour
• pins, scissors (dressmaker/cloth scissors), seam ripper
• Extension cable
•notebook & pen/pencil
Ariane will provide:
•Woven fabric for your PJ pants (further fabric details will be sent following your booking)

• Refreshments
Whether you’re transitioning from basics into garment making or expanding your sew-at-home skills, this workshop will equip you to go home with a wearable pair of PJ pants and the know-how to sew more woven garments.
*Please note:
