Auckland Meetup - May 11
Event description
The Auckland-area OWASP Meetup takes place on the second Tuesdays of March, May, July, September, and November.
For May's meeting, we'll have the following agenda:
5:45 - 6:45 - Networking and Refreshments
6:45 - 7:15 - Welcome, Introductions, and Administrative Items
7:15 - 8:30 - Panel Discussion
8:30 - Post-Meetup Networking
Our Topic for the Evening:
Getting AppSec Right, from the Beginning
When you start your company - or even your first "greenfield" project - you want to bake application security in from the beginning. But what's the right amount of security, and which things will give you the best bang for your buck? What are the things you just can't afford NOT to do from the beginning?
In this panel discussion, our panelists will share their experiences creating startups, advising businesses and building security practices in small and large organisations, to help you sort through all the things you could do and take away some concrete advice.
Our Moderator: John DiLeo, OWASP NZ Chapter Leader
Our Panel Members:
- Laura Bell - Founder, SafeStack
- Chris Hails - Heartland Bank
- John-Paul (JP) Sikking - Datacom
- Petra Smith - Sharesies
Our Hosts:
Our May event is hosted by Datacom's AppSec Services team, at their Wynyard Quarter offices (58 Gaunt Street, Auckland, 1010). We'll be meeting in the Te Ikaroa and Tautoru training rooms on Level 1 (up the stairs from the main lobby).
Our Sponsors:
Secure Code Warrior (SCW) has kindly offered to sponsor our session, providing our food and drinks. Members of the SCW team are visiting Auckland and Wellington to meet with customers, and Jaap has agreed to be part of our panel this evening.
