Oyster Reef Restoration at Robinson Preserve
Event description
Join us in making a difference for local wildlife and the health of our waterways! This volunteer event will focus on building up oyster reefs in one of Robinson Preserve’s lagoons. These restored oyster beds will create essential foraging habitat for the American oystercatcher — a striking shorebird listed as a state-designated threatened species.
What to Expect
Work outdoors in full sun
Activities include shoveling, carrying crates of oyster shell and shell placement
Conditions: trails, mangrove habitat, and mucky lagoon soils
Active, hands-on conservation — be ready to get wet, dirty, and make an impact!
Required PPE & Dress Code
Close-toed shoes and clothing that can get wet/dirty are required
Please do NOT wear Crocs, Chaco’s, rain boots, or deck boots
Recommended: sneakers, hiking boots, or neoprene booties with hard soles

Water, sunscreen, and a hat
