Panelists:

Andrew Normand (He/Him)

Andrew is the Web Accessibility Lead at the University of Melbourne. He assesses the broader impact of new IT initiatives on students, staff and the external community.

Andrew has established an industry leading user testing program which has employed over 50 students with hearing, vision, mobility and cognitive impairments. Together, they work to ensure that learning management systems, research management platforms, authentication, web apps and physical infrastructure (e.g. hearing loops) can be accessed by as many users as possible.

Having worked as a lawyer, software developer and web manager, Andrew enjoys advising project teams on practical approaches to procurement, risk management, vendor management, design, branding and defect management. He also loves providing and discussing alternative code solutions.

Callum McMenamin (He/Him)

Callum works as a Web Standards Consultant for the Government Chief Digital Officer (GCDO) in Aotearoa New Zealand, Te Tari Taiwhenua / Department of Internal Affairs. Callum is part of the Web Standards team that looks after the NZ Government Web Accessibility Standard that applies to many government agencies. The Web Standards team works with and through government agencies to help them deliver more accessible digital government services, with a focus on system-level solutions.

Callum has low vision, and this fuels his mission of building an accessible Aotearoa for all.

Jaunita George (She/Her)

Jaunita works as an ADA Digital Program Manager leading the Enterprise Technical Accessibility Team at Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU). She also chairs the Accessibility A11ies Community of Practice and serves on the leadership committee of NFCU’s disability ERG. She represents NFCU on the Accessibility Guidelines and ARIA Working Groups at the W3C and serves as an Advisory Committee Representative. She is also a member of the Internet Society’s Accessibility Committee. She’s spoken at numerous conferences and events and is passionate about shaping a future internet that’s accessible to everyone.

Brigitta (Bri) Norton (She/Her)

Bri is a Digital Strategist and User Experience and Accessibility specialist based in Canberra, Australia and has been an Accessibility Lead for both State and Federal Government. Bri has more recently co-developed inclusive research workshops to share how to include accessibility earlier in the project lifecycle which includes engaging with people with disability as part of inclusive research activities.

Amongst her professional experience with government agencies and local businesses, Bri has previously been the Australian Government Digital Transformation Agency’s Accessibility and Inclusivity Lead, is the co-chair and the conference convenor for Australia’s Web Accessibility Initiative OZeWAI.org, a Standards Australian Accessible ICT Procurement Committee Member and a member of the ResearchOps.Community Cheese Board.
