OzHarvest Market Waterloo - Team Volunteering

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

This is a truly unique team opportunity to become a part of our volunteer family for a day; helping to replenish shelves, chat with patrons, provide refreshments, assist at the check out and provide customer service to the market's 200+ daily customers. You will see first hand the community that has been built around this innovative space.

Our Waterloo Market was opened in July 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and rising need for food relief across Sydney.

‘Take what you need, give if you can’ is the market’s operating philosophy for all visitors. The mission of the market is to make good quality, nourishing food available to people suffering food insecurity.

  • - All volunteers will need to have completed the Infection control training and shared their certificate with their OzHarvest contact ahead of their shift (instructions to complete are provided)
  • - Upon arrival, all volunteers are to check-in with the OzHarvest Market Manager to have their temperature taken, double-check that they have done their infection control training, and to be provided with masks, gloves, and sanitiser for their shift
  • - If anyone has a temperature of 38 or above or cannot provide details of their infection control training they will not be able to remain for the shift
  • - In line with social-distancing guidelines we ask that everyone stays at least 1.5m apart at all times.

Your impact   Calculated by Bain & Co, our social return on investment (SROI) reveals the true impact OzHarvest is making in the community. For every dollar invested into OzHarvest, food rescue returns $7.70 to the community by cutting the costs of food bills for charitable agencies, which allows their precious finances to be directed into specialised core services.  Please check out the latest OzHarvest Impact video below to learn about our various community outreach initiatives that your donation will support!
