At PIN, we're more than organisation—we're a dynamic community of professionals committed to advocating, supporting and uplifting Pacific families and individuals.
- Our Mission: PIN collaborates across sectors - government and nongovernment - to address the unique and complex challenges faced by Pacific communities. These challenges include language barriers, cultural insensitivity, limited access to essential services, high rates of domestic violence, criminal justice, social justice and health disparities.
- Cultural Sensitivity: We deeply understand that existing services often fail to meet the unique needs of Pacific Islanders. Our approach is not just inclusive but also deeply respectful of diverse cultures.
- Inspired by Jannawi: Our model draws inspiration from Jannawi, a specialised child protection service since the 70s known for its comprehensive and inclusive approach. We extend our support to the entire family, including perpetrators, filling critical gaps in the existing services. We too walk alongside our families with integrated approach and delivery.
- High-Risk Families: We work with high-risk families, bridging the divide between services and those who need them most.
- Language Matters: Language barriers are a significant challenge. We're committed to ensuring that language doesn't hinder access to essential services. We achieve this by providing translation services, bilingual staff, and culturally sensitive communication materials.
- Community Empowerment: PIN integrates professionals—Pacific and non-Pacific—to address diverse needs. For instance, we have successfully collaborated with the police to ensure cultural sensitivity in law enforcement, leading to improved community relations and better outcomes. We also provide culturally safe spaces no matter where we are with nonjudgemental, compassionate and welcoming energy. We offer support tailored to the unique needs of Pacific communities, with several success stories of families and individuals who are thriving today.
