Packsaddle Lecture on Printing with Cecelia Heffer, Clint Harvey & Caren Florence
Cecilia Heffer (Senior Lecturer, of Fashion and Textiles at the University of Technology, Sydney) In her practice, she specialises in print and contemporary lace. In this talk, she will share a unique Global Studio that, for the last nine years, has taken students to India to participate in artisan woodblock print studios. Cecilia will share a special collaboration with Tharangini studio in Bangalore and show the artistry of woodblock carving and printing methods involved in producing bespoke prints.
Clint Harvey & Caren Florance explain the historical information behind the Museum of Printing’s archive and how it connects with contemporary printmaking practice. This lecture will shed light on how unique it is to have hands-on access to such a priceless working collection. In order to continue to preserve the art of letterpress and wood type, this educational opportunity is crucial to the community’s broader understanding art of letterpress, wood type, and the F.T Wimble collection as a whole.
