FAQs
- 1. Is this a live music event?
Nope, this is a space where musicians come to chill and enjoy music, not to play it!
- 2. Isn't $30 a bit expensive for what it is?
It is actually only $3, if that. You get to drink $25, the ticketing fee is $2. The remaining $3 help cover the giveaways. Cheap as chips!
- 3. Why does it stop at midnight? I want to keep going.
You must be younger than us... We're old farts. We can't stay up all night anymore! Those days are gone...
- 4. Would you have large screens showing the cricket?
Absolutely not!
- 5. What about the footy?
Absolutely not! No footy, no fútbol, no basketball, no baseball, no screens at all. This a cocktail bar. definitely not another sports bar.
- 6. Will there be Karaoke?
Absolutely not! As we said, this is a place where musicians come to enjoy music... We don't want to ruin it for them.
- 7. Can we sing along to the music?
Yes, you absolutely can. Knock yourselves out, but without a microphone.
- 8. Can I buy food at Paco's?
Absolutely, Barrel Below's kitchen is 'a la orden' until 10pm. Their kitchen menu is in the Photo Gallery above. They also have raving reviews on Google. Check them out.
- 9. What about Reggaeton, Salsa, Merengue and Bachata?
There are all great rhythms and music... but definitely none of them will be present at this event. Only Rock en Español at this event. However, there may be some Spanish Pop early in the evening (La Oreja, Mecano, Juanes, Shakira, Hombres G, etc),
- 10. When is the next FONIKA concert?
We have no idea! But whenever it is, we will buy you a pair of tickets if you happen to be one of the 2 lucky winners in the draw.
- 11. I don't speak Spanish. Would I still enjoy this event?
We reckon you will. Spanish Rock is well liked by speakers of other languages. According to ChatGPT, these are the reasons why:
"Spanish rock is proof that you don’t need to understand every word to feel every beat! 🎸🔥
From soaring guitar riffs and infectious rhythms to powerful vocals and unforgettable choruses, Spanish rock has a raw energy that transcends language. Its melodies can move you, its rhythms make you want to dance, and its passion is impossible to ignore.
For those who grew up with the music, it brings back memories of friends, road trips, romances and unforgettable moments. For those discovering it for the first time, it’s a chance to experience the vibrant spirit of Latin rock, where rock ’n’ roll attitude meets Latin American soul.
And when the crowd sings along, raises a glass and loses itself in the music, knowing every lyric becomes optional. The language may be Spanish, but the feeling is universal. 🤘🍻"
If you enjoy the music in this video, you will probably enjoy joining us on the night. Or try this other one.
If you didn't enjoy either of those songs, then you have no soul and you will most likely hate Paco's... apart from going to hell ;-) So I would stay away if I were you. We will pray for your lost soul!
- 12. I'm new in Sydney, Is this bar near public transport?
It sure is. This is one of the main reasons we chose this venue. You can get there by bus, train, metro, lite rail and even ferry!
Barrel Below is super close to:
