A paddock scale safe-to-fail grazing trial in the hills of Telita, in north east Tasmania is showing remarkable results.

In January 2022 a paddock scale safe-to-fail grazing trial began near Copping, in south east Tasmania. The paddocks were initially grazed by cattle at high stock density with high utilisation.

The trial is now ready to be grazed again under the same conditions.

The paddock walk and talk will cover:

the impact of high stock density, high utilsation and longer recoveries on grass density and diversity
how to increase grass density and diversity, improve water infiltartion, soil moisture retention, nutrient cycling and soil stability
how and what to measure to know how management is impacting pasture and soil health

We'll start at the Bream Creek Hall, then head to "Blue Hills" to walk through the trial.
