Paediatric Blended Learning Course

(12 Hours: 6hrs E-learning + 6hrs Face-to-Face)

This accredited 12-hour Paediatric First Aid qualification provides learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to confidently respond to a range of emergency situations involving infants and children. It meets and exceeds the requirements set by Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), making it ideal for those working in early years settings.

Delivered by EMT First Aid Training, the course is available in two formats:

  • Blended Learning: 6 hours of interactive e-learning completed prior to attendance, followed by 6 hours of in-person practical training (1-day).

  • Full Two-Day Classroom Course (see separate listing).

Entry Requirements:

  • Learners must be aged 16 or above.

  • A minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy is recommended.

  • Participants must be physically able to demonstrate practical skills, such as performing CPR on the floor.

  • Please inform us in advance of any medical conditions, injuries, or learning needs—reasonable adjustments can be arranged.

Course Content:

  • Roles & responsibilities of a First Aider

  • Priorities of First Aid and contents of a First Aid Kit

  • Recovery position (unconscious but breathing)

  • CPR and AED (unconscious and not breathing)

  • Choking

  • Seizures and fitting

  • Anaphylaxis and use of auto-injectors

  • Asthma, shock, and severe bleeding

  • Burns and scalds

  • Head injuries (concussion, compression, skull fracture)

  • Diabetes

  • Fractures, sprains, and dislocations

  • Bites and stings

  • Removing splinters

  • Meningitis and poisoning

  • Effects of extreme heat and cold

  • Febrile convulsions

  • Spinal injuries

  • Foreign bodies in ears, nose, and eyes

  • Sickle cell crises


📝 Assessment:

  • Practical assessments during face-to-face training

  • Skills covered: CPR, wound care, recovery position, choking

  • Optional multiple-choice test (for RQF certificate)


🎓 Certification Options:

Choose the certificate that suits your needs:

  • Standard First Aid Certificate

  • Level 3 RQF Paediatric First Aid Certificate

Both are valid for 3 years and meet Ofsted and EYFS standards
Note: Some apprenticeships and employers may require the RQF certificate

🔄 Ongoing Requirements:

  • Annual refresher training strongly recommended by HSE

  • Full re-certification required every 3 years
