Painting a Surfboard

3-week series of classes

Have you ever wanted to paint a surfboard to display as a work of art?

The aim of these 3 sessions is to teach you how to:

• Clean and prepare the surface of a second-hand surfboard for display purposes. 
• Create a design on paper. 
• Develop your design and transfer the artwork onto a surfboard.
• Then paint/colour the surfboard. 
• Finally varnish it.

Equipment:

• Six second-hand surfboards are available, 
• pencil, paper, 
• water based house paint/ acrylic paint/gouache, 
• wax comb (from the surf shop), 
• mask, 
• gloves, 
• water based estapol/varnish, 
• water based primer.

Dates: Tuesday 26/11, 03/12, 10/12.

Time: 1:00 - 4:00 pm

About the tutor

Kim is a qualified Textile Designer/Colourist. She has conducted one Surfboard Design Workshop at a local High School. She also organises the Life Drawing Sessions @ WAG.
