Workplaces Leading Change: From Compliance to Culture

Preventing violence is not only the responsibility of governments, police and courts. Workplaces and the people within them have an extraordinary opportunity to influence the attitudes, behaviours and social norms that extend into our homes and communities.

As part of Zonta’s 16 Days of Activism, join Peter Rigby from Hastings Deering and Hayden Whitworth from Be There Group for an engaging conversation about how men and workplaces can become active leaders in preventing disrespect, sexual harassment and gender-based violence.

Hear what some of Australia’s leading workplaces are doing differently: moving beyond compliance and “tick-box” training to build genuine organisational commitment, equip employees to act as active bystanders and embed respect into everyday behaviour, leadership and decision-making.

Peter and Hayden will share practical insights into allyship, corporate innovation and the importance of engaging men as part of the solution. They will explore how organisations can bring the Respect@Work principles to life—not simply through policies, but through meaningful action that changes conversations, strengthens accountability and creates safer workplace cultures.

This is an empowering discussion about what all of us can do—particularly men, leaders and workplaces—to challenge disrespect early, set a stronger cultural standard and help prevent violence before it occurs.

Real change begins long before a crisis. It begins with what we accept, what we model and what we choose to do when something does not feel right.
