STA PAINT THE TOWN Co-Design Workshop

Facilitated by Carol and Amanda from The Stress and Trauma Clinic with Joe Quilter Creative Director of PAINT THE TOWN Street Art Festival.

The Black Summer Fires deeply affected our community. As part of the PAINT THE TOWN project STA in partnership with The Stress and Trauma Clinic are hosting free co-design workshops for people to talk about their experiences of the Black Summer Fires and help shape the design of PAINT THE TOWN murals.

STA and The Stress and Trauma Clinic recognize the impact the 2019/2020 fires have had, and continue to have, on mental health. Each workshop is a supported forum facilitated by qualified clinicians at The Stress & Trauma Clinic to ensure the psychological safety of all, and for appropriate supports to be offered.

You!!! People of any age who lived or visited the Highlands during the 2019/2020 bushfires.

Community members are welcome to attend one or both sessions.

The Stress & Trauma Clinic are based in Bowral and use trauma-focused and evidence-based practices tailored to client needs. Honouring the client

as the expert of their experiences in conjunction with specialised knowledge as clinicians,

Amanda Jones is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with over 25 years of dedicated work helping people through some of the hardest times in their lives. Carol Gutierrez is a Registered Psychologist. Together Carole and Amanda work to improve quality of life and expertise.

The Stress & Trauma Clinic use the black cockatoo as a symbol of change and strength after adversity. The bird who survived and flourished through fire, as our symbol of strength, courage, and confidence.

More About Joe Quilter

PAINT THE TOWN Creative Director and one of Australia’s most prominent street artists Jo Quilter will share workshop insights, stories and concepts to the project artists as they develop their design and compositions.

Jo is a local street, graffiti and fine artist who has been in the scene for 25 years. He also lectures at university in areas of mental health and ethics, and works to support his community.

This workshop has been made possible through funding provided by the Australian Government under the PHN Program and the Black Summer Bush Fire Grants, in collaboration with The Stress & Trauma Clinic and Southern Tablelands Arts.
