Painting Melody
Event description
A love song to visual art.
In a warehouse gallery in the industrial backstreets of Moffat Beach, enter a world where paintings sing and stories breathe. Part music concert, part play, part art history primer, Painting Melody turns iconic paintings and songs written in response into portals to the artist inside us all. An enchanting and intimate show rippling with imagery and emotion. For artists and art lovers. Also music lovers. And theatre lovers.
Life-changing encounters before gold-framed portraits in Rome… transcendence splattered on canvas… and the pictures that start a movement. With songs that paint vivid pictures of colour and imagination, this is art appreciation made deeply personal, playful, and unforgettable.
Painting Melody is an award-winning solo performance work by artist, writer and musician, Mira Chorik. Presented alongside exhibiting LANTANA Space artists-in-residence: DANIELE AVANZINI, JORDYN BURNETT, JAMIE DAVIDSON, WARWICK GOW, CHOLENA HUGHES, REN JESKE, and RENEE MEAD.
"In the same manner a viewer is asked to interpret a creative work, Chorik invites the audience into an exhibition that is a dynamic reverie on the interplay of music and painting. Soulful vocals and soft acoustics create a sepia-tone canvas that is at once a performance, curation, and lyrical composition." - Patricia Higgins (Anywhere Festival Reviewer)
