Capture the Face: Acrylic Portrait Workshop

Unlock the secrets to painting realistic faces with confidence! Whether you are a beginner or looking to sharpen your skills, this workshop will guide you step-by-step through the mechanics of a striking portrait.

Using this expressive, textured portrait as our inspiration, you will learn how to turn a simple photograph (bring your own clear black and white photo of the person you would like to paint)into a powerful piece of art.

What We Will Cover:

• The Formula for Faces: We will go through facial proportions. You will learn the exact formula to get eyes, noses, and mouths in the perfect position

• Mastering Tonal Values: We will look past the distraction of colour to focus purely on highlights, mid-tones, and deep shadows.

• Painting on a Toned Background: Learn how starting with a warm or vibrant mid-tone background (like the beautiful peach undertone shown in our sample art) makes your black and white acrylics pop and speeds up your painting process.
