Event description

Over 33,000 Palestinian civilians have been killed by Israeli forces, including more than 14,500 children and 9,500 women. An estimated 8,000 people are missing and presumed buried under the rubble, and thousands of children are severely malnourished. The occupied West Bank and Jerusalem have also been targeted with raids and the detention of thousands of Palestinians.

Amidst this ongoing violence and destruction in Palestine, there is a pressing need to shed light on the historical and ongoing atrocities faced by the Palestinians.

Join us on Saturday, April 20, to learn more about Palestinian atrocities since 1948 with a presentation titled 'Palestinian Literacy: Unveiling Historical Injustices and Building Support for Change.' This presentation will take you on a journey from pre-1948 to before October 7.

We have a special guest, Ali Kazek, who will conduct the Q&A session and address all the questions you may have.

Ali Kazak is a former Palestinian ambassador to Australia, New Zealand, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, and East Timor. He has addressed and represented Palestine at several national and international conferences and forums. He has addressed Universities, Clubs, Strategic Study Centres and Institutes of International Affairs, written articles in the mainstream Australian, Arab and international media and appeared on numerous national and international television and radio programs.

The event is presented by a diverse group of students, ranging from Ph.D. candidates to undergraduates. Each student is deeply passionate about Palestine and committed to amplifying its voice and effecting positive change.

Presentation topics:

1. Palestine History
2. Nakba 1948
3. Fatah and Hamas
4. Palestine's Intifada
5. Palestinians' situation before October 7
6. Building Support for Palestine
