Palestine Under Siege Film Screening
Event description
What’s happening in Palestine might feel like a world away, but the struggle for dignity, freedom, and human rights is something that touches us all—whether it’s here in on Birpai Country (Port Macquarie) or across the globe. Amnesty Port Macquarie invites you to our inaugural event: a fundraiser and screening of Palestine Under Siege, a powerful documentary that takes you into the heart of one of the world’s longest-standing struggles for self-determination.
Through the voices of survivors of Al Nakba and the courageous Palestinian and Jewish activists on the ground, you’ll gain insight into what it means to live under Israeli apartheid. You’ll hear from three Australians—Dr Peter Slezak, Rand Darwish, and Lee Rhiannon—who traveled to Palestine to see the realities for themselves and bring those stories back to share with us.
At first glance, you might wonder how this issue connects to your life here, but this screening is an opportunity to explore exactly that. At its core, the fight for Palestinian rights is about universal values—dignity, justice, and equality—that resonate with all of us. It’s about understanding that when one community is denied freedom, we all have a role to play in challenging injustice, no matter where it happens.
This event is perfect for those who are curious to learn more, especially if you’ve been unsure about how to engage with a global issue on a local level. It's a chance to watch, listen, and start the conversation.
So whether you’re passionate about human rights or just beginning to explore how these issues shape our world, come along. This is more than a film—it’s an invitation for reflection, connection, and action.
