Event description

AABR acknowledges the Gamaraigal people on whose land we will be walking, talking and sharing knowledge.

Join us for an immersive and educational day at our beautiful bushland site!

Kick off the event with a captivating site tour led by Oli Collocott, our knowledgeable Bushcare supervisor. Explore the two unique Plant Community Types (PCTs) on the site: the Sydney Coastal Lilly Pilly-Palm Gallery Rainforest and the Hunter Coast Lowland Spotted Gum Moist Forest. Oli will share his vision for the future of these remarkable ecosystems and council’s plans for their  preservation.

Following the tour, Elaway Dalby-Ball, General Manager of Dragonfly, will delve into the fascinating ecology of the area. Learn about the Powerful Owls, once elusive Sugar Gliders, and the diverse wildlife that call this Palmgrove Park home. Gain insights into the delicate balance of our local ecosystem and the importance of its protection.

A seasoned volunteer will then transport you back in time with an engaging discussion on the site's rich history spanning over 50 years. Discover the stories and events that have shaped this remarkable place.

Next, participate in a hands-on seed collection activity in the lush bushland. Help gather seeds that will be spread over the planted section of the site, contributing to the regeneration and biodiversity of the area.

Roll up your sleeves for a bit of on-the-tools work, spending 30 to 60 minutes making a tangible impact on our bush-regeneration efforts.

Finally, unwind and enjoy a delightful morning tea or picnic lunch in the park. This is a perfect opportunity to connect with fellow bush regenerators and reflect on the day's experiences.

Don't miss this chance to engage with experts in the field of bush regen, and contribute to the regeneration of this unique bushland. Reserve your spot today!
