Yiying Lu, Adobe Global Brand Ambassador, TEDx Speaker and UTS Alumna
Yiying Lu is an award-winning artist, entrepreneur, and TEDx speaker. Named one of the “Fast Company Most Creative People in Business”, Microsoft's “Top 10 Emerging Leader in Innovation”, and a “Shorty Awards” winner in Design, Yiying has created iconic designs seen by billions of people, including the Twitter Fail Whale, Conan O'Brien Pale Whale, Dumpling & Boba Tea Emojis, and the Chinese Paper-cut Style Mickey Mouse for the Disney Shanghai opening. Her work has been featured in tier-one media outlets such as The New York Times, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, and BBC. Born and raised in Shanghai China, educated in Sydney Australia & London UK, she is now based in San Francisco, runs her innovation studio with corporate clients, including Apple, Google, Salesforce and Airbnb. Her name means “Happy & Creative”, and her life purpose is to bring more Happiness & Creativity through her work to the world.
Murray Hurps, Director UTS Startups
Murray Hurps is UTS’ first Director of Entrepreneurship, tasked with growing the number of student-founded startups coming out of UTS and nurturing the Ultimo precinct’s vibrant startup environment. Murray plays a key role in developing and sustaining pathways connecting UTS graduates and student founders to the startup ecosystem locally, regionally, and internationally, including commercial accelerators, venture capital and international destinations. Murray also leads initiatives to ensure Ultimo continues to expand its historical position as a significant contributor to Sydney's startup ecosystem.
