Rebecca Ryan transforms sewing pattern paper into sculptural works that explore overlooked women's narratives. Reimagining historical dress forms, she materialises invisible yet resilient stories - much like her chosen medium.

Drawing from her ancestral connections to Western Australia and Yamaji Country, her practice is informed by the untold experiences of women in her family who sacrificed careers and silently shouldered family burdens.

The pattern paper—historically tied to women's domestic creativity—becomes both medium and metaphor in her sculptures, honouring traditionally feminine pursuits while challenging their diminishment. Following illness and career transition, her work continues to examine women's historical presence through dress forms, illuminating complex intergenerational experiences.
