Event description

China's pursuit of "innovation-driven development" has become central to its rise in the 21st century.  China's approach to science, technology, and innovation has evolved considerably, however, and remains difficult to understand. How has China's approach changed over time, and what are the forces driving this shift?  This talk explores the paradigmatic change that has shaped Chinese policymaking in recent decades, drawing on recently published research. The talk highlights how China has embraced the concept of the "innovation system," and how Chinese policymakers' efforts to guide China's system could well be the world's most ambitious.
