Event description

Parallel lines is a poetry event celebrating parallel play in creation facilitated by writer and game designer Lola Johnson (they/them), as part of Network Q - Pluto Q’s creative support network and event programme by and for marginalised creative freelancers.

We are holding space to facilitate poetry writing and sharing whilst centring marginalised creators in a COVID-safer and neuro friendly environment.

We want to give you a calm space to create and co-write in the main area, with the offering of a facilitated workshop in the classroom if you would like more guidance.

After that we will open the space for sharing poetry in the way that feels most comfortable to you. We will have nominated readers and roving mics for sharing wherever you are. After which there will be some time for talking and writing if you feel inspired by anything shared.

There is no pressure to share, write, or socialise - you are free to engage in any way that feels good to you and we will have a system in place for signalling access preferences such as whether or not you’re open to someone initiating conversation.

This is a COVID-safer event and as such numbers are capped to ensure space for social distancing within the venue. Masks are mandatory unless exempt, and anyone who cannot mask will be asked to take a lateral flow test and wait for a negative result before entering. Tests will be available to pick up from the Reading Room in advance so you can do it before leaving your home should you wish to.

We hope you will enjoy the event - We try to make our venue as accessible as possible, but do get in touch if you have specific questions around accessibility or adjustments we can make to make it work for you.
