Parallels 1: Sam Gill & Simon Barker // Jachlo (Jacques Emery & Chloe Kim)

Parallels is a series of improvised duo gigs curated by saxophonist Sam Gill, each presenting two duos and culminating in an all-in quartet set.

DISCOUNTED SERIES PASS AVAILABLE HERE

For the first edition, we hear two rhythmically-driven duos exploring the outer limits of their sonic possibilities.

Sam Gill & Simon Barker

Sam Gill - saxophones
Simon Barker - drums

Sam and Simon have been playing in the duo format since 2015, drawing on their shared interest in high-intensity rhythmic and textural explorations. They released their debut album 'Afterimage' in 2020, and have played nationally and internationally, including a set at New York’s IBeam in 2020.

Jachlo (Jacques Emery & Chloe Kim)

Jachlo is the duo project of Sydney-based experimental composers and improvisers Chloe Kim and Jacques Emery. While they are primarily known as a drummer and bassist (respectively) highly in-demand in Australia’s jazz/improv/experimental scene, the Jachlo project allows an open platform for Kim and Emery to experiment with compositional forms and a wide palette of multi-instrumental colour.
