This one-off workshop is back (our first sold out in 48 hours). This is a unique opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of these experiences, so you can walk with people on their journey and provide specialist support.
Presented by Voices Vic in collaboration with the National Paranoia Network UK, this specialist one-day online workshop will provide evidence-based knowledge and practices in working with paranoia and unusual beliefs.
Run by specialists in the field, Peter Bullimore and trainer Kate Crawford will join us from the UK. This is a rare opportunity to access this information in an Australian time zone.
Workshop content will include:
• What does paranoia mean to you?
• The History of paranoia
• The role of fear in paranoia
• Identifying the role of neglect in paranoia
• Identifying the links between trauma and belief systems?
• The three stages of paranoia
• Using the three stages (case studies)
• Triggers & warning signs
• Working with unusual beliefs
• Decoding beliefs
• Understanding body state information that can trigger paranoia
• Case studies
• Personal experience of recovery.
By the end of the workshop you will:
• Understand the meaning of paranoia
• Identify the role of fear in paranoia
• The importance of identifying neglect
• How to decode beliefs
• Understand the three stages of paranoia
• Look at identifying the meaning in someone’s belief system and helping them work through them.

Peter Bullimore, is a leader in the Hearing Voices Movement, an internationally recognized trainer and consultant specializing in hearing voices, childhood trauma, paranoia, and the use of the Maastricht Interview for problematic thoughts, beliefs, and voices. He runs the National Paranoia Network, Asylum Associates, and the Sheffield Hearing Voices Network, delivering training and support globally.
In addition to guest lecturing at 23 universities across the UK and Ireland, Peter is sought out as a speaker internationally, sharing his lived experience and expertise to inspire change and foster understanding. His collaborations with Derby NHS Trust led to the establishment of Maastricht Centres at the Radbourne Unit in Derby and the Hartington Unit in Chesterfield, with additional centres launched in Bradford, Doncaster and Telford.
Peter is the author of the book, Making Sense of Paranoia: Personal, Political and Professional Perspectives. He has contributed to a variety of other books, including Psychosis as a Personal Crisis: An Experience-Based Approach and Living with Voices: 50 Stories of Recovery. His work has also been published in numerous academic journals, including the co-authored article “Listening to Voice Hearers” with Bob Sapey in the Journal of Social Work.
Through decades of advocacy and education, Peter has supported thousands of voice hearers around the world and worked to transform how mental health professionals understand and support those with lived experiences of voices, paranoia, and trauma.
Kate Crawford is a voice hearer with a traumatic childhood who attended Hearing Voices Groups and has utilised the approach in her own recovery journey as well as working with others. She works across four universities providing specialist training and support in the approach.
Who are Voices Vic?
Uniting's Voices Vic is an award-winning and research supported specialist program improving the wellbeing and recovery of people who hear voices and experience other unusual experiences.
Led by peers with lived & living experience in hearing voices and mental health, Voices Vic provides dynamic recovery groups for adults & youth. We also facilitate trainings across Australia for organisations and individuals who work and care for voice hearers and voice hearers themselves.
