Building confidence and connection for families navigating the autism journey.

Parents and carers of children aged 0-18 years with disability are invited to join Kiind for our online Parent Training Workshop, Celebrating Strengths, Supporting Needs, and Navigating Diagnosis in WA.

Kiind is partnering with organisations across the community to support families in accessing meaningful information, building confidence, and feeling empowered to advocate for their child’s unique strengths, needs, and goals.

In collaboration with Early Start Australia (ESA), Kiind’s upcoming Parent Training Workshop is designed for parents and carers of autistic children seeking practical guidance, deeper understanding, and clarity around autism, early supports, and diagnostic pathways.

This workshop will be facilitated by Kiind and joined by Senior Psychologist, Maria Clara Rearte Ernst, who brings over 22 years of international experience supporting children with developmental and neurodevelopmental differences. Maria Clara provides evidence-based assessment and therapy, with a strong focus on building resilience, confidence, and family wellbeing.

This session takes a neuro-affirming approach, recognising that differences in brain development are part of human diversity. It focuses on understanding and supporting children in ways that respect their individuality while fostering development and wellbeing.

This approach aligns with current neuro-affirming practice, which:

Acknowledges differences in communication, sensory processing and thinking styles
Emphasises strengths alongside support needs
Promotes identity-affirming care

Families will gain tools to better understand their child, navigate the diagnostic journey in Western Australia, and connect with supports that nurture growth and confidence.

In this workshop, we will explore:

Understanding autism and the diversity of the spectrum
Key diagnostic criteria explained in a practical way
Recognising and understanding autistic traits
Navigating diagnosis pathways in Western Australia
How to talk to your child about autism in an empowering way

There will also be an opportunity for you to ask questions at the end of the session.
