This 90-minute session with Holly Brooker from Makes Sense Aotearoa equips parents/caregivers with practical tools and up-to-date insights on emerging trends to help them understand their role in guiding their kids through the complex digital world.

Key topics covered include:

• The online landscape: why and how young people are using tech, including insights on screen time, gaming, YouTube, and social media use.

• Understanding online risks: the 4 C’s: Content, Conduct, Contact & Contract.

• Practical strategies: filtering, house rules, whānau values, connection, knowing our kids, and conversation.

This talk is grounded in research, stories, and support, and will leave participants hopeful and empowered to manage the balance of tech with family life.
