Children's Autism Foundation presents "Parenting Your Aut-some Child", a fun, informative half day workshop for parents, whanau and caregivers of children or young people on the Autism Spectrum.
We understand that parenting a child on the Autism Spectrum can be challenging and at times, exhausting! This workshop has been specially designed for parents and caregivers and is loaded with information, tips, strategies and practical, family-centred solutions.
This is an intensive morning covering Autism essentials to help you on your parenting journey!
Overview of topics covered:
- Autism 101 - what is Autism and what does an Autism diagnosis mean for me as parent or caregiver?
- Anxiety in Autism - what is anxiety and how may it it affect my child?
- Sensory - learn about sensory issues and sensitivities in children with ASD
- PDA & Oppositional Behaviour - what is this and how do I deal with it as a parent?
- Practical strategies to help reduce challenging behaviour, anxiety and make family life easier

Make an appointment for a free 30 minute Autism Family Support session with one of our Family Consultants after this workshop to discuss any concerns you have or dig deeper into anything you may have learned in this workshop. This workshop is a great opportunity to connect with other parents/caregivers of children on the Autism Spectrum.
