Parisian Time Step
Event description
A sparkling night of chanson, jazz and tap dance at the BarBamford Daylesford Hotel.
Take a vicarious trip to Paris this summer as Parisian Time Step returns from France.
Parisian Time Step is an intimate and charming cabaret that blends French chanson, jazz, tap dance, and storytelling, taking audiences on a journey through the rich musical history of Paris.
Drawing from the city’s past, and poking gentle fun at Parisian anecdotes, the show seamlessly blends nostalgia, history and humour creating an unforgettable experience. From the poignant love songs of the Age of Enlightenment to the lively polkas of the Belle Époque; from glamorous 1930s music halls to the golden age of jazz in the 1940s and '50s, Parisian Time Step celebrates the city’s musical legacy. The journey continues through the Left Bank jazz revolution of the 1960s, culminating in toe-tapping originals of the 2000s. Each song tells a story, evoking the essence of different Parisian neighbourhoods, eras, and cultural movements.
Created by Paris-based, Sydney-bred, Melbourne educated writer-performer Ruby Boukabou, with jazzed-up arrangements by French pianist Philippe Petit and choreography by France-based, Melbourne-bred Wendy Lee Taylor, Parisian Time Step promises an unforgettable evening of music, movement, and joie de vivre.
