Make a leporello with Lost In Books
Make a Leporello
A children's workshop presented by Lost In Books as a part of Parramatta's Lit!
As part of Parramatta's Lit!, join children’s literature mentors and mentees Freda Chiu and Leila Frijat from the MIRROR Mentorship program for a free intergenerational workshop in multilingual storytelling, illustration and bookmaking.
Together, participants will create their own leporello — an accordion-fold book — using words, images and illustration to explore stories across languages and cultures.
Inspired by the MIRROR Mentorship program, this hands-on workshop brings children and adults together to make, imagine and share, celebrating diverse voices and the possibilities of multilingual children’s literature.
No previous writing, illustration or bookmaking experience is needed. Participants can take their finished leporello home at the end of the workshop.
Lost In Books multilingual book pop-up
A Lost In Books multilingual bookshop pop-up will accompany the workshop, with a curated selection of multilingual children’s books available to browse and purchase.
Who can join?
Suitable for children over 5 years and adults of any age.
All children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the workshop.

A part of Parramatta's Lit!
Make a Leporello! is presented as part of Parramatta's Lit!, bringing literary activity, writers, artists and readers together across Parramatta.
Through Lost in Books and the MIRROR Mentorship program, this workshop brings a distinctly multilingual and intergenerational dimension to the program — creating space for children and adults to explore how stories can move between languages, images, cultures and generations.
The MIRROR Mentorship program is supported by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body.
