Event description

Parsnip have made a triumphant return with their sophomore album ‘Behold’, exploring realms of both the outer and inner consciousness against a jangly and jolting synergy. The group return to Sydney this August to launch ‘Behold’, with support from friends Photogenic and Angie!

Since their formation in 2016, with the debut EP ‘Health’, Parsnip have long blazed their own trail as an animated ensemble. Their latest release is a testament to an enduring friendship, exhibiting a more collaborative and unified force amongst members Carolyn Hawkins (drums), Rebecca Liston (keys), Paris Rebel Richens (bass) and Stella Rennex (guitar).

"Smile bitch: it's PHOTOGENIC! As far back as 2017, PHOTOGENIC were delivering on the great DIY promise that forming a band is as easy as throwing five friends in a room and seeing what sticks. The result was (and is!) a meeting of punk descriptors from proto-to-post, where scrappy, dissonant guitars meet thuggish basslines and pogo beats, where eerie solos accompany threatening lyrical turns like: "you're nothing but shit on my shoe, now you're caught between my toes: it's disgusting." The 2024 PHOTOGENIC comeback features returning band originals Allie, Kim, Lucy and Peta, with Steph newly minted on the drums."

Angie presents a live replication of “Shyness”, her 2017 album for piano. She will perform the entire album on piano with the help of a full band, including Lawrence Hall (Guitar), Ben Luke (Guitar) and Tristan Price (Drums).
