    Event description

Stories can create positive change. When they are led by the community, stories become even more powerful. So, how can we better create and the tell these stories safely and ethically?

This workshop will support community workers and leaders and communications and marketing staff to:

    • rethink how to tell stories more powerfully placing the community at the centre
    • co-design safer spaces to create and tell community stories with respect, sensitivity and appreciation of people’s lived experiences
    • develop processes and strategies to better reach audiences benefiting the community.

In this workshop, two Our Race facilitators will introduce participants to five principles of ethical storytelling, giving them the resources to reach their audiences by creating and telling community stories safely – and more powerfully.

    Key Outcomes:

    • Learn how to apply the principles of Transformational Ethical Story Telling (TEST)
    • Revisit your storytelling to be respectful and person-centred
    • Share strategies to use stories to counter racism and discrimination
