Rock music in deconstruction from Sax and Drum duo Party Dozen and local psych explorers HYG.
Party Dozen is a sonic project loosely based on improvisation by saxophonist Kirsty Tickle and percussionist Jonathan Boulet. Party Dozen released their debut LP ‘The Living Man’ to critical acclaim in 2017 under their own label Grupo Records.
HYG are one of Canberra's favourite underground live acts, filling out living rooms and band nights across town. Their 2020 single ‘Be Here’ saw airplay on 3RRR, 3PBS and 2SER, and a ‘Wild One’ feature on Rage. Delving deeper into their recordings for 2021, while aiming to capture the loose intensity of their live shows, there is a refreshed energy emanating from the band as they emerge from lockdown into a world of their own.
Ainslie Salon is presented by Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres with support from the ACT Government’s Amp It Up! funding initiative.
