CONCERT

Darshan: Experience the Divine Song and Dance of Parvathy Baul

Her concert is beyond what can be titled a musical presentation and is more of ‘an appearance… like a brilliant comet streaking across the sky singing the glory of the universe!’

A lifetime of musical education, theater, and spiritual immersion imbues her voice, dance and stage presence with immeasurable impact upon the audience’s senses and heart. She will sing songs in Bengali, while dancing and playing traditional Bengali folk instruments. In the height of her expression she will live translate the songs into English allowing us insight to the layers of the sacred verse. With her long matted hair she will whirl in Dervish style, spinning, stomping, and jumping in fascinating Goddess-like creation and destruction- she will embody both the devoted and divine. This is Darshan.

This performance is in Southern Oregon’s well known nature preserve-Pacifica. This allows an intimate gathering surrounded by calm quiet nature, while focused in the large timber framed performance space. Let us rejoice in praise of life and offer gratitude to Parvathy Baul for her visit, extending her time to us, and sharing her deep devotion to human embodiment and the spiritual arts.

Doors open at 6:45pm. Tickets are available online and at the door for a $20 donation which directly extends support to all of Parvathy Baul’s efforts to preserve the culture of Baul through her own Sanatan Siddhashram and the support of Sanatan Baul Organization. KIDS under 18 are WELCOME and are FREE. Please, no electronic devices. Concert guests may come earlier than the opening of doors and visit the beautiful outdoor property and trails.

RETREAT

Saturday, Apr 27th, 2024 |  9:00am arrival- 3pm closing |

Satsang: Intimate gathering of Yoga, Song and Sacred Teachings with Parvathy Baul.

The good company of authentic spiritual practitioners blesses us with unfathomable purification of heart, attraction to the divine, enthusiasm, joy and courage to approach life’s challenges. This is a very rare gathering for those who desire more immersion into the eclectic Baul Culture, Teachings, and association with Parvathy Baul in an approachable or more so- Sweet and Loving relationship.

Upon Arrival we will relax into the space then be led in Yoga asana, Pranayama, and Meditation by Parvathy Baul herself. This is open to all abilities and experience. Please bring your yoga mat, supportive props, and a blanket to cover yourself. If you have none, please just show up and we’ll bring extras.

After asana we will continue with the immersion, learn a song or prayer, ask questions, and leave with the seeds of living a continually inspired holy life. There will be tea, snacks and more filling foods offered by the hosts and you are more than welcome to bring a ‘vegan’ dish to share. Pack your instrument, notebook, comfortable clothes for variable weather and any extra useful ‘retreat’ comforts like floor seats, cushions,  blankets, and drink thermos or cup. This day retreat is 6 hours long- although casual, attend with the focus on being fully present. Time will pass easily and quickly.  It is preferable you pre-register due to venue limitations, food quantity and printed material preparations. ‘Day of’ attendance or late arrival may be possible just give us a call or message and maybe you can just show up.  KIDS under 18 are WELCOME and are FREE.

Your investment is a donation which directly extends support to all of Parvathy Baul’s efforts to preserve the culture of Baul through her own India located Sanatan Siddhashram and of US based Sanatan Baul Organization. We welcome any additional supportive donations as well. Please let us know how you would like to help.  www.parvathybaul.com

the Artist:

Parvathy Baul is a majestic female spiritual leader with a heart that melts in union with the Holy that pervades everyone, everywhere, all time. She sings to God in the heart of all.  She’s most identified dancing in wreckless abandon of all limitations, dreadlocks spiraling, voice projecting a divine cry, and a presence that all uncontrollably bow too. She was born and raised in West Bengal, India and she currently resides at her home ashram as a lineage holder in the heart of Baul culture- Shantiniketan. She visits the United States to inspire her students, friends, practitioners, and to keep her dynamic tradition alive. All funds received from events are put towards the cultural preservation of Baul in India and here in the States through her affiliated nonprofit organization and Ashram. Baul is generally a non organized, outsider culture of mystic yogis, and artists primarily in West Bengal and Bangladesh but now pervade the world. Bauls hold a unique identity mixed of Yogic, Tantric, Buddhist, Hindu, and Sufi- all essences within the framework of what most call Bhakti- unbounded love of God.  Parvathy Baul teaches and performs through song, dance, painting, yoga, tantric ritual, scriptural dialogue and natural lifestyle.
