Tending the Embers Gathering
Event description
Tending the Embers Gathering
Pur-pur-pur-kwee-yew! The Grey Shriek-thrush are singing…., weaving their melodic tales and calling us to gather once more.. As we emerge from the warmth and magic of our last Village Camp, the time has come to kindle a new flame and pass the embers to the next flock of nest builders.
This February, we are calling the Spring Nestlings and the Autumn 2025 together on Country to co-create the next Village Camp. We are passionate about continuing this intergenerational, deeply nature-connected tradition. Lets use our voices, energy, experience and curiosity to weave our skills together in the Autumn nest.
Together, we’ll reflect on our journey, share ideas, and continue weaving our community-led model to carry us forward. Through discussion, creativity, and playful collaboration, we’ll prepare to pass the embers from the old nest to the new.
Our goal? To share skills and knowledge between nests on Saturday morning, then, on Sat afternoon and Sunday the Autumn working group will continue to weave the Autumn Village Camp into being with support from the Spring nest where helpful.

We will gather on the beautiful Country currently cared for by Nolan and Jill Bear.
It’s a camping weekend, so bring your tent, picknick rug, and all the gear to keep you cozy. Communal outdoor space will be open for gathering, dreaming, and playing. A couple of burners, tables a verandah will be available for meal prep, and you’re welcome to bring your own camping stove to supplement. Rain water is available for drinking and basic washing. There is a compost toilet for us to use!
Please note: friendly dogs will be present on the property.
Who is this for?
This gathering is for Nest Members of past and upcoming camps.
We’d love to see adults, teens, and children join in as we brainstorm, plan, play, and dream together.
While this isn’t a full-scale camp, we’ll set up a dedicated space for younger participants, with shared care responsibilities and fun activities throughout the weekend. Older kids and teens may also want to participate in the discussions and workshops—flexibility is key, and we’ll ensure that everyone feels included and supported.
What will we do?
Daily Flow:
- Morning Gatherings: We’ll begin each day with a check-in and an all-ages activity.
- Workshops & Discussions: Guided sessions to reflect on the last Nest, past camps, imagine new possibilities and collaboration, and address challenges.
- Play & Integration: Nature time, playfulness, and moments for quiet reflection will balance the discussions.
- Evenings: Storytelling, songs, and connection around the fire.
Throughout, lets focus on creating a sustainable, community-led vision for the next Village Camp.
Food
Food will be primarily self-catered, with opportunities for communal cooking and potluck-style meals. More details will follow after registration.
Cost
A $15 contribution per adult will help cover the gathering’s basic costs including a contribution to the gathering's insurance.
