PASSING: The SRV Practicum 2023
Event description
PASSING: THE SRV Practicum 5 Day Course- 2023
May 15-19, 2023
The SRV Practicym 5 Day course for learning more about Social Role Valorisation
About this Course
Participants appreciate in greater depth the reality of issues involved in trying to support people to acquire socially valued roles in community life. You visit two human services; have interviews and conversations with the people who receive the service and those who provide the service. Following each study visit, you will use discussion and evaluation to explore how the service impacts the lives of the people who receive the service. Participants work in small teams led by a team Leader to use ‘PASSING', an SRV-based tool. Through this process, participants more deeply understand the needs of the people and what it is that the service does to meet those needs. Services visited in the past have included aged care facilities, special schools, day programs, business services and supported accommodation services. It is a demanding but extremely rich workshop.
Make the Most of Contemporary Opportunities
This course assists with using SRV to inform efforts through the NDIS and Consumer Directed Care, more authentic Person Centred approaches, and concepts related to ‘Choice and Control.’
Who Should Attend:
Are you interested in deepening your understanding of the issues facing human services? Do you want to create positive change? If so, this course is for you. This includes people who are doing PASSING for the first time, as well as those who have done PASSING before.
The course involves long hours, challenging visits and interviews, analysis, and active personal contribution by participants. It is not a useful event for anyone wanting just a ‘taste’ of PASSING as it requires that participants be able to devote their entire attention to the practicum.
The event will appeal most to people already deeply concerned about the difficulties faced by people who have a devalued status.
