POSTPONED - PassTheMic Hui: help shape what stories get told next!
Description
Kia ora,
We at Belong Aotearoa are hosting a hui to explore the role of storytelling in countering racism and discrimination, amplifying lived experience, and shifting narratives around migration and diversity.
In 2020, Belong Aotearoa developed the PassTheMic (PTM) podcast which was a community led media campaign to promote inclusion of people from migrant and former refugee backgrounds through storytelling. These were stories told by the community, for community, with community. After 2 seasons of PTM, we are now looking at the next phase.
We want you to be part of shaping this next phase.
This hui will be facilitated by Andrew Melville and Dr Rachel Mukwezwa Tapera.
Andrew is a seasoned storyteller, with a career spanning 40 years across journalism, broadcast, public relations, and communications. Andrew is the Founder of Spoke, an organisation focused on developing story strategies, content advice, and leadership development for individuals, organisations, and communities.
Dr Rachel works at the intersection of public health, equity, and community knowledge systems. She is the Founder and Director of the Inclusive Research Centre and Co-Founder of the Migrant Neuro-Inclusion Network. Her work spans across academic, community, and policy spaces to support systems that are more responsive, inclusive, and equitable.
