Pat Powell Church St Studios Fri 6 March 2026
Description
Hailing from the highly musical Jamaican community of 1960s/70s Bristol in the UK, Pat Powell toured extensively throughout Europe before descending on Sydney with great force in 1981.
Filling bars and clubs across Australia with his pioneering acts Caribbe, Club Ska, LoveTown, Ten Wedge and Neptune St, within a couple of years he was and remains, one of Australia’s most in demand studio vocalists.
He has supported James Brown, Queen, The Eurythmics, Boy George, Crowded House, Split Enz, Horace Andy and Luciano, Tina Arena, Technotronic, George Benson and more.
Although Pat is known for his Ska/Reggae and old School RnB abilities, he is also a wonderful interpreter of jazz Standards and it is this genre that he will be covering on Friday March 6th at the intimate Church St Studios Space.
Joining him on the night will be pianist Bill Risby, guitarist Hilary Geddes, drummer James Hauptmann and double bassist Jonathan Zwartz. This will be an intimate night of extraordinary vocal jazz, - one that doesn't come around too often, so don't miss it.
