Kawandi Style Quilting Workshop

Event description

This Kawandi style workshop teaches you a simple machine based version, that uses a 'quilt as you go' technique. This style of African quilting is great for using all those tiny scraps of fabric left over from other creative projects. Suitable for those with basic sewing machine skills, you will learn how to piece, quilt and finish, all in one simple step. It's a great opportunity to stitch together memories from pieces that matter, creating a new story and perhaps even an heirloom piece. You can bring your own old clothing or fabric scraps if you like; however we will have enough supplies for all.

DETAILS:

  • Over 4 hours, this workshop will run on Saturday 14th September from 10am-2pm.
  • Cost: $68
  • This workshop is limited to 8 participants.
  • Best suited for those with some basic machine sewing experience.

PLEASE NOTE: All of our classes and workshops are created using circular economy principles. This means we love using many recycled and reclaimed fabrics, and haberdashery items for our sewing projects. We are deeply passionate about diverting textile waste from landfill and we do this through upcycling.
