Event description

Jump into spring with an Introductory Sewing Class, these classes run from 1:30-4:00pm and start Wednesday the 29th January, going for 4 classes (last class 19th Feb). That's 10 hours of sewing goodness delivered to you, weekly. This class is aimed at people who would like to increase their sewing skills, and is perfect for people with no to limited sewing ability, a real 'back to basics' class.

In these classes we will be using sewing machines and learning simple construction techniques.

All materials, patterns and use of equipment is included in course fee. Knowing how to sew really is a skill that keeps on giving. This 4 week class (10 hours) beginner course is a small class (max. 6 students with 2 teachers) so that people will receive the assistance they need to increase their sewing skills as a basis for upcycling clothing and textiles.

Techniques will be incorporated into projects including:

  • Pen/pencil wrap (can also be used for tools, make-up items etc)
  • Drawstring backpack

DETAILS:

  • 2.5 hours each week for 4 weeks, starts on Wednesday 29th Jan, 1.30pm-4pm.
  • Cost: $180
  • This workshop is limited to 6 participants.
  • Best suited for beginners.

PLEASE NOTE: All of our classes and workshops are created using circular economy principles. This means we love using many recycled and reclaimed fabrics, and haberdashery items for our sewing projects. We are deeply passionate about diverting textile waste from landfill and we do this through upcycling.
