Pathways to Progress: Board Governance Workshop is a full-day, in-person training designed to strengthen leadership, compliance, procurement practices, and strategic governance for public entities and nonprofits across New Mexico.
Presented by the Gila Community Foundation (GCF) in partnership with the Southwest New Mexico Council of Governments (COG), this workshop brings together board members, elected officials, and nonprofit leaders from throughout the state to build practical skills for ethical governance, fiscal oversight, procurement compliance, and effective leadership.
Whether you serve in a rural community or a larger municipality, this training provides tools that can be immediately applied within your organization or governing body.

Morning Session
Individuals interested only in the Board Governance portion of the Pathways to Progress workshop may register for a Morning Board Governance Ticket. Morning-only participants will attend the governance training sessions through lunch and will not participate in the afternoon procurement training.
This session is ideal for board members, nonprofit leaders, and public officials seeking to strengthen governance, leadership, and oversight practices within their organizations.
Afternoon Session (Returning Participants)
Individuals who previously attended the Pathways to Progress: Board Governance Workshop may register for an Afternoon Procurement Training ticket. This option is designed for returning participants who have already completed the Board Governance portion of the training and only need the procurement component. Afternoon-only participants will join the workshop following the lunch break for the procurement training session.
This workshop is ideal for anyone seeking to improve board operations, clarify roles and responsibilities, strengthen compliance with state requirements, better understand procurement requirements, and develop a sustainable leadership pipeline. Participants will leave with practical resources and actionable strategies that can be implemented immediately within their organizations and governing bodies.
