BIOGRAPHY

With a background in language and literature, Shoma Mittra began her career as a copywriter in Rupert Murdoch’s media empire in Asia with the Star TV network in the early 90’s.

She was a lowly hire in this vast enterprise, bent over her computer tasked with creating tantalising headlines for Business News shows. Much of the time she had no idea what she was doing and played Solitaire on her screen while trying to come up with the best words. That was about as challenging as it could get.

However, she soon learnt how powerful words can be. As she crafted copy for the next few months, TRP ratings for news and business shows started zooming up. She was soon promoted and moved into scriptwriting for popular TV soaps.

She changed gears after a few years and entered print journalism where stayed in the role as a Human Interest Features Writer and Editor. In that time, she also wrote several books, was ghost writer to five well known personalities and later started her own content creation and management company, WriteClick Writing Services when she moved to Perth in 2006.

Shoma is now an author coach and has helped write and publish over 250 odd books in the past 5 years. Her favourite genre is memoir and she has helped published several iconic WA family stories. She also helps entrepreneurs write, publish and market their books. As a self-publishing expert/coach she takes authors through the many moving parts of writing, editing, publishing and marketing their books which are usually business or self-help books.

She has been a story telling coach for one of Tony Robbins’ programs for four years now.

She has also recently started a collaborative project with two Scottish authors called, Auscot Publishing and Retreats.

She believes that storytelling is essential to human existence. They are recognizable patterns in which we find meaning. As humans, we are natural storytellers. If our stories are not told, our future generations are losing an important part of our socio-cultural history.
