Preparing students beyond school through Montessori and Big Picture Education | Information Session

This presentation and discussion-based information session is designed for families who would like a deeper understanding of the Margaret River Montessori School Adolescent Program.

While our Adolescent Program Tours provide an introduction to the campus, learning environment and community, this session explores the educational philosophy and structure that underpin our program. Together we will look at how adolescents learn, how our curriculum is delivered, how students are supported throughout the secondary years, and the pathways available beyond graduation.

• Montessori education during adolescence

• Curriculum and learning structure

• Big Picture Learning Design and The International Big Picture Learning Credential (IBPLC)

• Teaching methods, assessment and reporting

• Preparing students for senior secondary education

• Graduation requirements and Post-school pathways, including university, TAFE, apprenticeships, employment and other opportunities

• Questions and open discussion

Session Duration
Approximately 45 minutes.

Who Should Attend?
This session is primarily designed for parents and caregivers. Prospective students and children are also very welcome to attend.

If you plan to bring children or additional family members, please ensure that a ticket is booked for every attendee. This allows us to prepare the venue appropriately and ensure sufficient seating and resources are available for everyone.

Please note that this is a seated presentation and discussion rather than an interactive activity. Some younger children may find the content less engaging due to its focus on curriculum, educational philosophy and future pathways. Parents and caregivers remain responsible for the supervision of their children throughout the session.

New to MRMS?
If you have not yet visited our Farm Campus, we recommend booking an Adolescent Program Tour in addition to this session. The tour provides an opportunity to explore the campus, meet members of our community, hear directly from current students during a student panel, and experience the learning environment firsthand. Together, the tour and information session provide a comprehensive introduction to the MRMS Adolescent Program.
