Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision is thrilled to announce that registrations are now open for our third 2025 Patient and Family Educational Session. This virtual session will introduce the National Therapeutic mRNA Platform (NTRP).

The NTRP is a new research initiative supporting the development of future mRNA therapies in Australia. This session will explore the potential of mRNA therapies for the treatment of Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes.

What is mRNA and why does it matter for Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes?
mRNA is a tiny messenger in our cells that helps make proteins. In Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes, where blood cell production is low, mRNA therapies could help fix genetic issues or boost blood cell growth, offering hope for better treatments.

This event is designed specifically for individuals affected by Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes, as well as carers and family members. We’ll share information about what the NTRP is doing, as well as why and how mRNA therapies are being explored. More importantly, we want to hear your thoughts, questions and perspectives. Your experience and insight will help shape how we engage with the community and guide future research priorities.

- Professor Eduardo Eyras, Chair, NTRP, Director, Centre for Computational Biomedical Sciences.

- Associate Professor Amee George, Lead, ANU Centre for Therapeutic Discovery, Platform Manager, NTRP.

- Associate Professor Brett Scholz, Academic Lead (Admissions), MChD Program; Chair, Student Welfare Sub-Committee; Associate Professor, School of Medicine and Psychology, ANU, Canberra.

- Dr Lucy Fox, Haematologist, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

- Professor David Ritchie, Haematologist and Bone Marrow Transplant specialist, Royal Melbourne Hospital.

This event will feature short presentations from the guest speakers, followed by a live Q&A and open discussion to address patient and family queries.

After the event, you’ll be invited to complete a short, optional survey to capture your perceptions on mRNA technologies and therapeutics.

The session will be held virtually via Zoom (the link will be sent out the week of the event).
